Angelita and Car Wash
Angelita means "Little Angel." This doline is one of the first and best-known advanced diving spots in the area. Located a few miles from Tulum town, it is one of the few cenotes on the ocean side of the highway, making it closer to the ocean compared to other cenotes. This cenote dive is famous for its huge Hydrogen Sulfide cloud, which covers the entire contour of the doline at approximately 100 feet / 30 meters. It is also one of the very few dolines that combines the cloud with a dense Halocline at the same depth, creating truly surreal and breathtaking views, as if you were literally in the sky. Different trees emerge from the cloud and connect to the Cone of Debris as well. On the way up, we visit the fork-shaped stalactite formation and pass through a cool swim-through before reaching the safety stop.
Car Wash
After a short drive back along the highway toward Coba, we reach our second dive site, Car Wash, also known as Actun Ha. Located right beside the highway, it was once literally used as a car wash facility. It is a cool dive with a maximum depth of about 50 feet / 15 meters, featuring some very impressive formations and columns. From the outside, as you enter the overhead environment, the entrance can look like a large open mouth with teeth on each side. There is no Halocline on this dive.
