The Pit and Nicte Ha

Talking about dolines, we undoubtedly need to talk about Hydrogen Sulfide clouds, which are very common in these environments at depth. "The Amazing Pit," as some of us call this dive, is a great combination of a doline that drops to 100 feet / 30 meters, reaching the beginning of that amazing cloud. Surreal sights are followed by lasers of light coming through the main entrance as you descend toward two different Haloclines on your way to the Cone of Debris. Here, you can find a typical tree like the one seen during the Angelita dive. You then begin your ascent toward the ceiling of the site, which is full of stalactites and several cave entrances that connect to other systems in the area, such as Dos Ojos.

Nicte Ha 

After a short drive along the dirt road in the same area, inside Ejido Jacinto Pat, we reach our second dive site, Nicte-Ha (Water Lily in the Mayan language). It is also known as High Voltage Cenote because there is an electrical tower in the parking area that supplies the area with electricity. Challenge your buoyancy on this shallow dive, with a maximum depth of about 20 feet / 6 meters. It is considered a more enclosed cenote, with amazing formations and beautiful views from the entrance areas among the water lilies. You can also see the remains of a Cereque, a Mayan rabbit-like little pig.
