Two Different Cavern Dives

Chikin Ha is a beautiful eco-park in the Riviera Maya offering much more than cenote diving. The park is surrounded by lush jungle and provides the opportunity to enjoy two different cavern dives at the same site, each with its own unique characteristics, spectacular natural light, and fascinating underwater scenery. The contrast between freshwater and saltwater creates fascinating visual effects as you move through the cavern system.

The caverns are generally wide and open, with impressive views of the entrances and exits. Natural sunlight penetrates through the openings in the rock, creating beautiful reflections and dramatic light effects on the crystal-clear water.

The bright, almost white limestone formations give the cenote a unique appearance. Combined with the clear freshwater, jungle surroundings, and shafts of sunlight entering from above, the scenery can feel almost surreal.

Maximum depth: 40 feet / 12 meters.

A Younger Cave System Than Dos Ojos

Geologically, Chikin Ha is considered a younger cave system than Dos Ojos, but younger does not mean less beautiful. In fact, the system offers exceptionally clear water and a very different visual experience.

While Dos Ojos is famous for its extensive cave passages and spectacular formations, Chikin Ha has its own personality, with wide-open cavern sections, brilliant white limestone, crystal-clear water, and beautiful natural entrances.

Some sections of the cavern can feel almost like stepping into a dream, similar to those views in Avatar movie, with incredible blue water, dramatic jungle surroundings, and beams of sunlight illuminating the underwater world.

An Excellent Cenote for New Cavern Divers

Because many sections are wide and open, Chikin Ha can be an excellent option for divers who are experiencing cenote diving for the first time and want an opportunity to practice and improve their buoyancy and trim skills in a controlled cavern environment.

Good buoyancy is especially important when diving in cenotes. Maintaining proper trim and avoiding contact with the bottom or delicate formations helps protect the extremely fragile underwater environment while also making the dive safer and more enjoyable.

The combination of easy-to-appreciate cavern spaces, crystal-clear water, beautiful limestone, and spectacular haloclines makes Chikin Ha Cenote a memorable introduction to cavern diving in the Riviera Maya.

If you are looking for a cenote dive with dreamlike scenery, crystal-clear water, white limestone formations, natural light effects, and beautiful haloclines, Chikin Ha is definitely a site worth exploring.

Come and discover the magical underwater world of Chikin Ha — where the jungle, freshwater, saltwater, and ancient limestone caves come together to create an unforgettable Riviera Maya cenote diving experience.
