Combo Description 

Two spectacular deep cenote dives located west of Puerto Morelos, along La Ruta de los Cenotes. This combination is ideal for experienced divers looking for dramatic depth, unusual geological formations, hydrogen sulfide layers, and some of the most impressive light effects found in the cenotes of the Riviera Maya.

Cenote Zapote – Hell’s Bells & Hydrogen Sulfide Cloud

Cenote Zapote is a beautiful eco-park with excellent facilities and is famous for the discovery of prehistoric giant ground sloth remains at approximately 50 meters / 165 feet deep.

This spectacular doline descends through a narrow opening before expanding at around 80 feet / 24 meters into a massive underwater gallery filled with extraordinary bell-shaped biothems, known throughout the diving community as the legendary “Hell’s Bells.” These unusual formations developed underwater, making Zapote one of the most distinctive cenote dives in the Riviera Maya.

At approximately 100 feet / 30 meters, you can also encounter its dramatic hydrogen sulfide cloud, adding an otherworldly atmosphere to an already unforgettable deep dive.

Cenote Maravilla – Light Beams & Hydrogen Sulfide Cloud

After driving east along La Ruta de los Cenotes, we reach Cenote Maravilla, another impressive doline that opens almost immediately into a massive sinkhole beneath your feet.

Around midday, spectacular laser-like beams of sunlight penetrate through the opening above, illuminating the enormous underwater chamber and creating one of the most mystical light displays found in the cenotes.

As you descend, you can experience Maravilla’s impressive hydrogen sulfide cloud at approximately 80 feet / 24 meters. From there, begin your gradual ascent around the walls of the massive sinkhole while watching the sunlight cut through the clear water above.

Maximum depth for both dives: 100 feet / 30 meters.
